A purchase brief is different from a recommendation question
A visibility question asks for options. A purchase brief adds constraints: budget, delivery or pickup location, channel, certification and product attributes. ShelfSignal’s Order Shelf records which brand, seller and channel an assistant selects under those constraints.
These are simulated selections, not completed orders. Runs stop before payment; no customer accounts, carts or checkouts are created by the benchmark. A choice share is not revenue, conversion rate or market share.
What is measured
The published format uses 6 briefs ×5 assistants ×2 runs =60 decisions. We retain the assistant, prompt, market, selected brand, selected seller, channel, cited rationale and the observed reason a competing offer was not selected.
A report separates brand choice from seller choice. A brand can be mentioned in an answer while the simulated purchase is directed to a marketplace or pharmacy rather than its own storefront. The cited explanation is evidence to investigate, not an experimental proof of causation.
From an observation to a scoped change
- Agree the category, market and constraints before running the audit.
- Inspect the offers and product facts that appear decisive: certificate links, variant price, stock, delivery, attributes or channel availability.
- Prepare a costed list of changes with evidence, expected direction and a verification plan.
- Implement only the approved scope on Shopify or a custom stack, then rerun the same briefs.
The audit is currently listed at $900 per category, plus$400 per additional market. Implementation is quoted per move. Current launch prices and the credit against a fix programme are detailed on the main pricing section; no improvement in choice share or revenue is guaranteed.
